Learning about data analytics and impact assessment as part of Digital Fellowship programmes

Both University Hospitals Sussex (UHSx) NHS Foundation Trust and Maidstone Turnbridge Wells (MTW) NHS Foundation Trust commissioned Health Innovation Kent Surrey Sussex (Health Innovation KSS) to deliver their CPD-Accredited Digital Fellowship Programme. The programme aims to equip fellows with the necessary skills to contribute to the trusts’ digital transformation strategy. Educational sessions were provided to the fellows as part of the programme, on topics including spread and adoption, sustainability and communications and storytelling. For the third consecutive year, Unity Insights was commissioned by Health Innovation KSS to deliver two training sessions focusing on insights, analytics and evaluation.

This year, the session was delivered virtually across two sessions, with 17 attending from UHSx (nine attending session one, and eight to session two) and 37 attending from MTW (21 to session one and 16 to session two) in June and September 2024. In addition to the educational content, the sessions included case study, group work and live examples to help the fellows to apply the concepts presented.

Some of the learning objectives were:

  • Understanding methods and approaches to evaluating a digital solution.
  • Understanding the importance of data collection and the process to follow.
  • Understanding SPC (statistical process control) tools and why they support effective decision making.

Thanks to the sessions, the fellows were able to use the learnings to conduct digital improvement programmes.

Thank you to Unity Insights for delivering the Insights, Analytics and Evaluation sessions to UHSx and MTW. The sessions were positively received by both cohorts, with participants enjoying the interactive tasks and delivery of the sessions from Mike and Léa.
